EASTERN USA / CANADA
The part of North America where everything old is new again. Famous all around the world for its incredible changing of colors during its fall foliage season, its coastline, wildlife, and incredible produce, this region has all that and more.
Depending on which direction your journey takes you, you’ll either start in ‘New’ England, or a region that was known for more than 200 years as “la Nouvelle-France”, where the highlight tourism regions are Old Montreal and Old Town Quebec City. In the middle of your cruise, you’ll likely pass through Nova Scotia, Latin for ‘New’ Scotland. Whilst one of the oldest parts of North America, the term ‘New’ is found all over the place. Because to the French, English and Scottish who arrived in this part of the world in the late 1500’s, to them, it all was new.
What you’ll find sailing through these waters is a rich tapestry of various historic European influence and a modern day population that are fiercely proud of their region and its history.
On one day, you can feel like you’re in a region as New England as it gets, and within a few days you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Western Europe. The historic battles between New France and New England are evident at various sites throughout the region, such as the Halifax Citadel, the Fortress of Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island, and the Quebec Citadel.
Whilst there is so much to see and do from each of these ports, one of the greatest appeals of the region is the port proximities to the main towns/cities. The vast majority of the time, ships arrive right into walking distances of the major regions for each port.
