BOSTON
One of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston is more often than not a starting or ending point of a Canada / New England cruise. Ships arrive into the Flynn Cruiseport on Black Falcon Avenue in Bostons Seaport District, approximately 2 miles / 3km from the heart of the central historic district.
With taxis readily available, Hop On/Off buses nearby, access to UBER, as well as the closest public transport stop being across the road from the cruise port, you’ve got plenty of options to get where you want to go. Boston has an efficient and easy to use subway system, which we’d highly recommend downloading a free subway map onto your smartphones before traveling if you plan on using it.
If you really do want to fully experience Boston, we would suggest either arriving a few days before your cruise starts, or staying a few days after it ends, to make the most of everything the city has to offer. Popular regions include the North End for its historic architecture and Little Italy area, the Back Bay for its modern gridded streets and high-end shopping, as well as the historic Charlestown and Bunker Hill regions on the northern side of the Charles River. Also, don’t sleep on the South End for a great mix of trendy new-age shops and restaurants, which has led it to becoming one of the most desirable areas to live in the city.
If you’re feeling active, one of the most popular walking routes is the 2.5 mile long Freedom Trail, either starting or ending at the Boston Common or the Bunker Hill Monument, depending in which direction you start.
For a city with such an incredible mix of historic and modern attractions, we’ll do our best with our list of places to visit below.
