When looking at population, Montreal is the worlds largest French speaking city, outside of France. Stepping off the ship and into Old Montreal makes you feel like you’re stepping into a different continent altogether. The combination of language, cuisine, architecture and culture makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Europe without having to make the cross-ocean flight.

The airport is the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport, located 18 miles /30km from the cruise port in Old Montreal. It’s recommended to allow a minimum of 45 minutes if going by direct route. Most cruise lines will offer airport transfers, and taxis are estimated to be $50-60. There are other local, public forms of transport, as well as options of luggage storage for the day if you have a late flight out, that we will be providing soon.
If you do have the opportunity to spend a few days in and around the city either prior to, or at the conclusion of your cruise, this comes highly recommended. The sights of Old Montreal and plentiful, and compact. Within a couple of hours, you can easily see the Notre-Dame Basilica, The City Hall, Chateau Ramezay and Marche Bonsecours, just to name a few. There is also the modern part of Montreal City, with the backdrop of Mount Royal Park accessible for hikers and nature lovers. This isn’t even mentioning the amazing food and shopping on offer here, and you get the picture of how easy it is to fill an extra few days in this amazing city.
