TIANJIN (BEIJING)

The Tianjin International Cruise Home Port serves as a gateway to major sights in inland China including The Great Wall, Tianjin, and Beijing. The port is extremely isolated, and simply getting into Tianjin is a 70-minute drive each way (46 mi/ 75 km). Beijing is 110 mi/ 177 km and can take 2.5-3 hours to get to, and the sections of The Great Wall are 45 minutes further than that.

Don’t let the long distances and travel times turn you off. Ships will often have one, or even two overnights. With prior planning, you will be able to experience some of China’s most iconic points of interest.

Beijing has a wealth of travel opportunities, including The Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, The Summer Palace, and Tiananmen Square. It also serves as a launchpad for seeing sections of The Great Wall, and you can easily see both the city and The Wall if you choose to stay the night in Beijing. Given the extended distances and complexity of the travel, booking a tour with the ship or privately can relieve travel stress.

While the main focus of the port is Beijing and it's surrounding sights, Tianjin has it's own tourism appeal. It is China’s 4th largest city with a population of 12.5 million people, and has a deep rooted history of international trade dating back to the 19th century which is reflected in the well-preserved European buildings and private residences. Other highlights include Ancient Culture Street, Drum Tower, Confucius Temple, and Tianjin Museum.
