NHA TRANG
Nha Trang is coastal Vietnamese town known for it's pristine four-mile long public beach with palm trees, soft sand, bars, and warm water. Grab a coconut and kick back, or get your camera and set out sight-seeing.
Some highlights include the Dam Market, the Nha Trang Cathedral, the Long Son Pagoda and Big Buddha, and, my personal recommendation, the Po Nagar Cham Towers. This site was used for religious purposes as early as the 2nd century AD by the Cham people, who were Hindu in origin. You will notice the stark difference in architecture from other Vietnamese temples you may come across.
As the ship sails in, you will notice an extremely long cable car. This ride was a 2007 addition to the Vinpearl Amusement Park. This is the reason why your ship may be tendering because most ships are too tall to sail safety underneath.
Once you arrive at the pier piled with shipping containers, downtown Nha Trang is 3 mi/ 5 km away, and is a quick 10-minute ride by car. Your ship may offer a shuttle, but there will be eager taxi drivers vying for your business past the port gate. They will be quick to up-charge you, but keep in mind that a metered taxi will be around 75,000 VND ($3.25 usd).
Nha Trang is the most relaxed Vietnamese port, and is a great chance to take it easy and recharge.
