KOH SAMUI

Koh Samui is the second largest island of Thailand that offers numerous travel opportunities with pristine beaches, temples, waterfalls, and food. This once backpacker’s paradise has been transformed to a family friendly holiday vacation destination with resorts sprinkled all across the island.

Your journey will begin with a tender ride, as there is no cruise docking location due to shallow waters. The one-mile ride from the ship to the main ferry port town on the northwest side of the island will take around 30 minutes. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by drivers waving around laminated signs advertising various day tours with negotiable prices. If you simply want a one way taxi way, make your way to the downtown area of Nathon, which is at the end of the pier.

Nathon is a popular springboard for travelers passing through, and you’ll find services such as money exchange, tour offices, WIFI cafes, restaurants, shopping, groceries, and gas stations. Exploring the town is a pleasant way to the spend the day, but also consider heading to one of the temples such as Wat Plai Laem or the Big Buddha.

For adventure seekers, take a challenging hike to one of the island’s waterfalls. Be cautious; these hikes involve big steps, unstable rocks, and a little off roading at times! If your travel check list included basking on a beach in Thailand with a coconut, this is the port to do it! Head to one of the many stunning beaches with pristine sand and warm water.

Koh Samui is truly a trip to paradise, and you’ll leave thinking, “I could see myself here for two more weeks….”  For tips to make the most of your trip, click HERE!
