HONG KONG
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, AKA Hong Kong, is a city of nearly 7.2 million people in a mere 426 sq mi / 1104 sq km area. Hong Kong is an exciting city where you can enjoy the fast-paced mega malls, markets, and incredible dining options, feel like a kid again with a trip to Disney, or even head out of the chaos into nature to see the Big Buddha.
Hong Kong will likely be the start or end of your cruise, and your ship will dock at one of the two ports on the Kowloon side of Victoria Harbor. The Ocean Terminal port is centrally located, but note that the Kai Tak port is 6 mi / 9 km to the eastern side of the main downtown Kowloon district.
If you want to take on Hong Kong like a local, be sure to utilize the subway system. The ticket machines have English translations, and it is it a quick, easy, and cost-effective way to get around Hong Kong without getting stuck in traffic.
If you want to see the city by vehicle, consider taking a Hop on Hop off bus. There are three different routes- the blue route is Kowloon, the red is the top of Hong Kong Island, and the green runs south on Hong Kong Island where you'll find Aberdeen and Stanley. A perk of the Hop on Hop off bus is that it even includes rides on the Star Ferry!
Hong Kong is one of the top travel destinations in the world, and with so many travel opportunities available, you are sure to enjoy your time.
