HALONG BAY

Halong Bay is one of the most iconic travel destinations in Vietnam, renowned for its stunning natural beauty. The name translates to “descending dragon”, and you can descend into the labyrinth of over 1600 islands and caves on one of the hundreds of junk boats for an unforgettable travel experience.

Most junk boat cruises are a half day experience, and consider taking a 10 minute taxi a drive across the bridge to the Bai Chay side of the city for the second half of your day.  There you will find the Halong Market with flowers, fish, clothes, and everything in between, the Quang Minh provincial museum, and the Vincom Center shopping mall that has wifi, a grocery store, and even a movie theatre.

If island exploring isn’t for you, consider heading 2 hours away to Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. Hanoi is a lively city with a rich cultural history and budding culinary scene, and some highlights include visiting the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kim Lake, the Hanoi Old Quarter, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where you can see Ho Chi Minh's preserved body in a glass case. If your ship has an overnight stay in Halong Bay, consider booking a hotel for the night to optimize your time.

Rain or shine, Halong Bay is a traveler’s treat that will give you travel memories to last a lifetime.
