DA NANG

The Tien Sa (Da Nang) Port is an industrial gateway to countless sightseeing adventures that can please the history buff, temple lover, foodie, and every type of traveler in-between. It is a port you can return to time and time again and still find new things to do.

Like many Southeast Asian ports, your journey will start with traversing through hundreds of shipping containers to be greeted by a slew of taxi drivers vying for your business. They are notorious for charging ridiculously high rates. It is wise to use the ride sharing app Grab, ask for a metered rate, or utilize a ship arranged shuttle service that will drop you off in downtown Da Nang, an ideal launch point for the major sites.

The main city of Da Nang sits 7 mi / 11km to the south. You can explore the local market, enjoy food and shopping, and utilize the tourist information center for a restroom, wifi, and maps. From the city center, you can hire a car and head fifteen minutes north to Son Tra Peninsula, known as Monkey Mountain, to see the Linh Ung Pagoda and Lady Buddha along with sweeping city and coastal views. You can also head fifteen minutes south to the Marble Mountains, where you will find Hindu and Buddhist grottos featuring intricate statues depicting heaven and hell as well as more views of Da Nang.

Continuing south, you will find the charming ancient town of Hoi An that holds picturesque streets lined with colorful lanterns and plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. Click HERE for a more! For history lovers, head 65 mi/ 105 km north to Hue for a day of immersing yourself in Vietnam’s past by walking through the ancient citadels, royal tombs, and countless pagodas.
