BALI

Bali is a stunning island of Indonesia that will be a highlight of your cruise, as it has something for everyone. Do you want beaches? Got it. Amazing temples overlooking cliff tops, coastlines, lakes and rice fields? Check. Waterfalls by the dozen? Absolutely.

A west/south coast trip could include the picturesque Tanah Lot Temple, the scenic Uluwatu Cliffs and Temple, and a sunset seafood dinner on Jimbaran Beach. An east coast trip may involve the Taman Tirtagangga Water Temple and gardens as well as a trip to Semarapura for the Klungkung Royal Palace.

When deciding on what to do, it’s important to take into consideration that it takes longer than expected to get from place to place. Sites may be close on a map, but the sheer traffic on narrow winding streets with hundreds of motorbikes impedes expected travel time. It’s impossible to see everything in one day, and the best advice is to pick 2-3 points of interest with a quality over quantity approach.

It is also important to know where your ship will be docking. You will likely be arriving at Tanjung Benoa, the Benoa International Cruise Terminal that is located south, adjacent to the Bukit Peninsula. However, smaller ports have been popping up around the northern coast, so be sure to check with your cruise line beforehand.

Bali is a port where transport is required. If you aren’t traveling on a ship guided tour, consider hiring a driver for the day. There will be plenty of taxis anxiously waiting at the port, and you can negotiate an hourly or day rate. Usually, it will be $20 USD/hr or $100-$120USD daily for the whole vehicle, not per person.

Bali is a beautiful, exciting port that will make for a day to remember and is bound to leave you wanting more.
